The Process of Hypnosis
Hypnosis is now recognised worldwide as an accepted and effective process for creating change, and is rapidly becoming the preferred choice for people with busy lifestyles. Hypnosis can be used as a complimentary therapy for some medical and psychological issues. Appropriate issues may be pain management, stress related illness and issues that have been referred to as psychogenic in origin.
Hypnosis is results-focused and does not involve the level of emotional pain, time and expense of some other forms of Psychotherapies. By dealing directly with the subconscious mind, Hypnosis by-passes many of the obstacles and barriers the conscious mind creates.
Hypnosis is able to fast track the process of “real change” and does so by first isolating the core problem. Long-term change is then facilitated through use of trance state, anchors and other change techniques.
The results of treatment using Hypnosis can take effect immediately. Clients often experience profound change over the course of several treatments and are equipped with tools such as Self-Hypnosis that they can utilise and access for the rest of their lives. For the client, the experience is painless, relaxing and enjoyable.
What is Hypnosis?
Some people believe that hypnosis is not genuine. They may have gone to mock stage shows or watched it in a movie where someone appears to have power over the people being. These types of representations are very far from the truth of what hypnosis really is.
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that everyone experiences every day, and can be described as a deep state of relaxation where the critical part of the mind is disengaged. The critical faculty is the part of the conscious mind that evaluates input from the primary five senses. It asks questions about that input and passes judgement, forming beliefs, opinions and meaning around it. It is the questioning part of our mind that is always looking to answer “why”. It is the ego self that has developed to keep us safe and alive.
Although useful for survival, much of the time the critical faculty gets in the way of our acceptance of new ideas and a healthy change or progress. It consistently screens all input from our senses and tends to reject that which does not agree with something has been previously experienced and accepted as valid. It can keep us stuck in un-resourceful and outdated patterns of behaviour. Therefore, if for example an Individual believes that they are not enough, the critical faculty will reinforce that belief, and reject any other contrary information.
How Does Hypnosis Work?
Hypnosis has the ability to “bypass” the critical faculty by inputting new desired information directly into unconscious mind. This allows our unconscious mind to accept the new input as fact without interference from the filters that our conscious mind operates. With hypnosis you are always in control and cannot be forced to do anything that is not in line with your values.
The hypnotic state enables you to access the ability of the subconscious/unconscious mind to resolve deeply rooted issues.
